The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the deterioration of media freedom in Belarus, notably the case of Charter 97.
The text adopted in plenary was tabled by the EPP, S&D, ECR, ALDE and Verts/ALE groups.
The EP strongly condemns the repeated harassment and detention of journalists and independent media in Belarus; urges the authorities to end all judicial harassment, intimidation and threats against journalists and independent media and to allow all news portals to operate freely;
